August "Gus" Weis, 78, passed from this life at Lancaster General surrounded by his family on March 29, 2019 from complications of flu and post polio syndrome.
Born in Columbia on April 18, 1940 he was the son of the late August John and Anna Denison Weis. Gus married his high school sweetheart, Joline Wolpert and celebrated 59 years of marriage on January 9, 2019.
He was a graduate of Columbia High School Class of 1959 where he was Class Treasurer. Gus worked for Local 341 Lancaster and Local 520 Harrisburg as a plumber/pipefitter and welder working in power plants throughout the area, including Three Mile Island.
He is survived by his wife, Joline; their children, Steven August (Gisele) Weis; Susan Kathleen (Charles) Sowerbrower; and Maryann Frances (Adam) Drolet; grandchildren, Kimberly Weis Bomenka; Steven Robert (Jamie) Weis; Kevin August Weis; Justin Charles Sowerbrower and Miranda Frances Sowerbrower; Alexander Cortez Drolet, Isabella Lostris Drolet, Addison-Joseph Keir Drolet and Emma Pearl Drolet; and one great-grandson, Joseph August Weis; his brother, George (Terry) Weis and sister, Sally Weis Reese and large extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Weis and sister, Mary Lou Brecht.

Funeral Services will be held from the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut Street, Columbia, PA 17512 on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Jeffrey A. Baylor, officiating. Burial will be held in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery following the services for Gus. Family and friends may view at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The family request casual attire by all in attendance.
