Charles was an easy-going father, grandfather, and brother who adored his family and will be remembered for his sense of humor.

A celebration of Charles’ life will be held at a later date and will be announced by his family.

Charles Messersmith, Sr., 66, of Pine Grove passed away on August 12, 2023. He was born in Lancaster to the late Steven and Isabelle Messersmith and was a lifelong resident of this area.

Charles was a graduate of Donegal High School. He had recently retired from Nortera Foods after many years working in maintenance. Charles was good with his hands and could fix anything mechanical. He enjoyed taking care of his garden. Charles was an easy-going father, grandfather, and brother who adored his family and will be remembered for his sense of humor.

Charles leaves behind his children, Charlotte Messersmith of Manchester, Charles Messersmith, Jr. of Pine Grove, Jennifer Odenwalt of Mount Joy; four grandchildren, Serenity, Joey, Jr., Eric, and Victoria; ex-wife, Alice Messersmith; three siblings, Jimmy, Lois, and Bob; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Roger, Audrey, Ellen, Idamae, and Nina.

A celebration of Charles’ life will be held at a later date and will be announced by his family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
