Elementary School Teacher for Thirty-Five Years

Funeral Services: Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.

Clarissa M. Wolcott, 83, of Columbia, passed away on June 6th, 2019 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. She was born in Williamsport, PA to the late Donald E. and Viola M. Wolcott and lived in Columbia since she was six years old. Clarissa attended Columbia Schools and graduated from Columbia High School with the Class of 1953. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Millersville State Teacher’s College and taught elementary school in the Lancaster School District for thirty five years.

Clarissa was a member of the former Cookman Methodist Church, Columbia United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Columbia Public Library Board, Columbia Tree Society, Columbia Historic Preservation Society, Henry Wolcott Society, P.S.E.A. (Retired), P.A.S.R. (Retired), Susquehanna Angel Collectors Club, Witness Tree Chapter D.A.R., the former Columbia Woman’s Club, The Iris Club of Lancaster. Clarissa taught Sunday School for fifty two years and volunteered at the George Ross School in Lancaster. She is survived by her cousins and many friends.

Services for Clarissa will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18th, 2019 at Columbia United Methodist Church, 510 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512. She will lie in state beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Rev. Tom Grubbs will officiate. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens.
