103 Year Old Registered Nurse

Gladys M Dumeyer, formerly of Johnstown, PA passed away at Luther Acres in Lititz, PA on October 21, 2018 at the age of 103. Born in Conemaugh, PA she was the daughter of Calvin R and Estella M (Shaffer) Carson. She was preceded in death by her husband Milton C Dumeyer in 2015 and a granddaughter, Krista.

She is survived by her 3 children: Lois Silver married to Charles Worrall, David married to Donna, and Ruth married to Ed Grzybicki. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Heather, Jennifer, James, Gretchen and Joseph, and 11 great grandchildren.

Gladys was a 1933 graduate of East Conemaugh High School, a 1937 graduate of Windber Hospital School of Nursing, and a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she received her bachelor’s degree in public school nursing. She was a school nurse for the Johnstown School District serving several elementary schools. She also worked as an RN at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital.

Gladys liked spending time with her family, especially the great grandchildren and enjoyed traveling to Florida and other places with her husband. She was an accompanist and loved playing the piano. She enjoyed playing card games especially bridge, pinochle and canasta. More than once she had said that playing card games kept her mind stimulated.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnstown and attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Clyde W Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., Columbia/Landisville
