Harold K. Yoder

To know Harold was to be welcomed as a life-long friend. He knew no strangers. Harold loved many things but love for his Lord and Savior, his family, friends and music were at the top of the list.

Memorial Service: Mount Joy Mennonite Church on June 25, 2022

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, Harold K. Yoder, Landisville, PA, went to be present with his Lord at the age of 90. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many.

He was born on March 29, 1932, in Barto, PA, to Henry and Elizabeth Yoder. Harold was married to Ruth (Ruthie) Miller Yoder from 1956 until her passing in 2002 and is survived by his wife, Josephine (Jodi) Hartzell Yoder, who he married in 2005.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth, his son, Kent, and his brother, Henry Paul Yoder.

Harold is survived by his children, Kevin Yoder and wife Carole, Kathy Shaheen and husband Thomas, Kristopher Yoder and wife Joyce, stepson, Matthew Hartzell and his partner Jessica Ashman, daughter-in-law, Janelle Yoder, nine grandchildren - Josh Yoder, Joy Talleksen and husband Rob, Joanna Hill and husband Tim, Emily Kreps and husband Gabriel, Elya Shaheen, Luke Shaheen, Seth Shaheen and wife Holly, Noah and Jemma Yoder and step-grandson, Nolan Hartzell, three great-grandchildren - Judah and Sonja Kreps and Owen Tallaksen, his brothers, Ray Yoder, Roy Yoder, Rich Yoder and his wife, Rachel, and his sister, June Shenk and husband Nelson, as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In 1958, Harold brought his family to Easton, PA, where he worked for various delivery companies until becoming a milkman for Stocker Brothers Dairy for 13.5 years. He delivered milk, a cheerful “good morning” and was often heard whistling while he worked. He sang for many years with the Franconia Choral Singers, performing Handel’s Messiah every year. He was a wonderful “band parent” following his children around on trips with the EAHS Marching Band. In 1979, Harold moved from Easton to Spruce Lake Retreat, Canadensis, PA, and was the Maintenance Director until he retired.

Service will be held at 2:00 PM June 25 at Mt. Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Rd, Mount Joy, PA 17552. The family will greet family and friends from 12:30 - 1:30 PM Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please send contributions to:
