James Carter Harris

James continued on to be a watch and clock maker and publish books on horology and also served as a curator for the National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia

In honor of James’ final wishes, he will be anatomically donated through Gift of Life.

James Carter Harris, 74, of Columbia passed away on July 8th, 2020. He was born in Trenton, NJ to the late James, Sr. and Ethel Palmer. James served in the U.S. Navy, was a graduate of William and Mary College and went on to study horology at Bowman Technical School. He continued on to be a watch and clock maker and publish books on horology and also served as a curator for the National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia. James enjoyed model trains and would volunteer at the National Toy Train Museum in Strasburg. 

James leaves behind his three sons, Scott Harris of Richmond, VA, Tyler, husband of Brigette Harris of Harrisburg, Matthew, husband of Ashley Thompson of Wrightsville; two grandchildren, Evan and Cory Harris of Richmond, VA.

In honor of James’ final wishes, he will be anatomically donated through Gift of Life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Watch and Clock Museum, 514 Poplar St, Columbia, PA 17512.
