Janet Keener

Her family will remember her for her love of cooking, dancing, oldie rock and roll music, and above all, her family.  

A memorial service for Janet will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Columbia VFW

Janet Keener, 83, of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Emily (Heistand) Myers. She was the wife of Thomas Keener, who passed away in 1999.  

Janet was a graduate of Columbia High School, class of 1957. She was an active member and volunteer with the Columbia VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She found joy in helping others and often volunteered for various charities. Janet loved being around children and enjoyed spending time taking care of them in her home and while working for Little People Daycare. She was a lifelong Columbian who was proud of her small town. She was very family oriented, especially when it came to her grandchildren, whom she adored more than anything. Janet was a social butterfly and looked forward to her weekly “girls' night” with friends. Her family will remember her for her love of cooking, dancing, oldie rock and roll music, and above all, her family.  

Janet is survived by her son, Don Yeager; daughter, Connie Yeager, wife of Len Orbovich; her grandchildren, Anthony Yeager, L.J., Stefan, and Emily Orbovich; and siblings, Richard Myers, Muriel Scott, Gary Myers, and Shirley Halter. In addition to her parents and husband, Janet was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Yeager; son Gary Yeager; daughter in law, Pamela Yeager; and siblings, Pete Myers, and Jane Myers.  

A memorial service for Janet will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Columbia VFW, 401 Manor St., Columbia. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lewy Body Dementia Association in Janet’s memory at: Lbda.org
