Funeral Services: Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.

Jeanette M. Sherk, 63, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at her residence. She was the wife of Stephen L. Sherk with whom she was married 41 years. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late J. Paul and Bertha Hess Witmer. She was also preceded in death by her step mother Sarah Witmer.

A Penn Manor graduate, Class of 1974, she also attended Millersville University. Jeanette was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Columbia and was a devoted homemaker. She spent many years in the banking profession, finishing her career at the Union Community Bank, Columbia. Active in the Columbia community and always ready to serve the public, she served in various capacities with the Columbia Life Network; Columbia Education Foundation and Homes of Hope. She served as treasurer of the CBAA for many years as well as serving on the Columbia School Board. For the past 12 years, Jeanette served as the Board President of the Columbia Public Library.

In addition to her husband are her children, Stephanie, wife of Jonathan Gerber; Nicholas Sherk; Thomas Sherk; grandsons, Jackson and Cameron; brothers, Nelson Witmer (Sandy) and Benjamin Witmer (Darla), as well as her two faithful companions, Charlie Beagle and Zibbie. She was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Witmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St., Columbia, PA 17512 on Saturday, February 23, 2019 promptly at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen P. Kelley, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jeanette's memory may be made to the Columbia Public Library Building Fund, 24 S. Sixth St. Columbia PA 17512.
