John W. Dunn

He enjoyed playing golf, fishing in DE, NJ & VA and attending NASCAR races.

John W. Dunn, 79, of Mount Joy, entered into rest after a long battle with cancer on December 12, 2018 at the Lebanon VA Hospital. He was the husband of Fay L. Corrigan Dunn with whom he was married 39 years.

Born in Croyden, PA he was he adopted son of the late Colonel Harold and Rosanna Schlegal Dunn.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a medical corpsman on one of the last diesel submarines. After serving in the Navy, John attended the University of Alabama where he obtained a Masters Degree in Computer Science. He worked on the computer system program for the merging of the the Pennsylvania and New York Railroad Systems and also worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of General Services. Wanting a change of career, he went on to work for federal and local law enforcement agencies, retiring from the New Cumberland Army Depot.

He enjoyed playing golf, fishing in DE, NJ and VA; attending NASCAR races and watching his favorite drivers the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and later his son, Dale Jr.

He leaves behind his wife Fay and close friend Beverly Wilcoxen and two crazy cockatiels, Mr. Jinx and Rascal which gave him many years of enjoyment.

At John’s request, there will be no public viewing. Services with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Please do not send flowers, instead please consider a donation in John’s memory to the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Center at www. lancastergeneralhealth.org.
