Marvin Richard “Rit” Kenney, 80, of Columbia passed away on January 4, 2025 at the Lancaster Nursing Facility under hospice care. He was born in Columbia to the late Patrick, Sr. and Louise Choice Kenney and was a lifelong resident of Columbia.
Rit attended Columbia High School and worked at the Armstrong Ceiling Plant of Marietta until his retirement. He enjoyed working on lawnmowers, listening to music, and playing his bongos and conga drums. Rit was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who adored his family.
Rit leaves behind his wife of fifty-eight years Kathleen Jankans Kenney of Columbia; two children, Randa L., wife of the late Alan Moulden of York, Curtis L. Kenney of York; three grandchildren, Tyrell M. Romero, Dayvon M. Moulden, Jenayah N. Kenney; two sisters, Dorothy Noon of Lancaster, Bernice Hurst of Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard T. Kenney; three brothers, Patrick Kenney, II, William “Metro” Kenney, and Dr. Chester L. Kenney.
