Chris was known for her love of wearing lots of jewelry, especially her favorite yellow duck ring.

Mary C. “Chris” Smeltzer, 65, of Wrightsville, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Donald “Iver” and Mary (Peters) Smeltzer.  

Chris was known for her love of wearing lots of jewelry, especially her favorite yellow duck ring. She enjoyed country music; her favorite song being “Elvira” by The Oak Ridge Boys. She was often seen listening to music while sitting in a rocking chair on her front porch. Chris found joy in pulling tickets and going out to eat, and she adored the color pink. She was a life member of Susquehanna Fish and Game in Wrightsville. 

Chris is survived by her sister, Sandy Gipe, wife of Bob; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Linda Wren and Joan Williams; her brother, Bob Williams; and her dog, Pudge. 

A funeral service for Chris will be held at 11AM on Saturday, April 9th, 2022 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut Street, Columbia. There will be a viewing one hour prior. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Wrightsville. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Special Olympics at support.specialolympics.org or to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17604.
