A man who spoke his mind & had a strong constitution for life.

Merrill J. Hess, 77 of 304 Kilgannon Lane, Lancaster, PA died on Sunday, November 11, 2018 surrounded by his family at home.He was the husband of Teresa M. Williams Hess.They would have celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on November 24th.

Born in Magnolia, NJ he was the son of the late John E. and Helen M. Shimko Hess. Merrill retired as a foreman from Nolt & Nolt, Inc. He was a member of the Faith Outreach Center Assembly of God Church in Mt. Joy. Merrill played baseball in high school and was scouted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was an avid sports fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He also loved horse racing. Merrill was a man who spoke his mind and had a strong constitution for life. He loved to sing and loved listening to Gospel Music. He proudly served his country as a SPC. 4 U.S. Army and served in Korea and Alaska.

Surviving besides his wife is a son: Merrill J. Hess, Jr. (Joey) husband of Darryl Coble of Lancaster, PA, 3 daughters: Tammy wife of Shamar Anderson of Columbia, PA, Sara wife of Glenn Greenawalt of Lancaster, PA, and Julie wife of Kenneth Horn of Middletown, CT. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Desiree Poole, Samia Anderson, Paige Greenawalt, Mitchell Greenawalt, Colin Horn and Devin Horn, 2 sisters: Vivian wife of Sterling Noecher of Bernville, PA and Joyce wife of Forrest Weitzel of Mohnton, PA. He was predeceased by twin grandchildren: Avery Patricia and Declan Joseph Horn and 3 brothers: William, Bruce and John Hess.

A Celebration of Merrill's Life will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 11:30AM (VIEWING: 9:30AM – 11:30AM) at the Faith Outreach Center Assembly of God Church, 475 Anderson Ferry Rd. Mt. Joy, PA with Pastor Andy Hoover officiating. Private Interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard and VET 21 Gun Salute. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
