Shirley K. Oakes & George I. Oakes, Jr.

Shirley enjoyed shopping, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. George he loved the Steelers, enjoyed golfing and playing with his grandchildren, especially hide-n-seek. 

They will be place together at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Shirley K. Oakes, 71, passed away on March 14th, 2021. George I. Oakes, Jr., also 71, passed away on March 11th, 2020. Both of Lancaster, together they were both born in Altoona and had been married for over 40 years. George had proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. and had worked for the Dana Corporation for a number of years. Shirley had worked for Anvil International until her retirement. She enjoyed shopping, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. As for George he loved the Steelers, enjoyed golfing and playing with his grandchildren, especially hide-n-seek. 

Shirley and George leave behind their children, Denise McMullen of Elizabethtown, Todd, husband of Shana Lingafelt of Columbia; fifteen grandchildren and great grandchildren; several siblings, nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.

In accordance with their final wishes, there will be no formal services. Shirley and George will both be placed together at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date.
