John Lindsey Herr, Jr., 85, of Washington Boro, beloved husband of Donna K. (Charles) Herr, passed away on November 28th, 2021. Born in Columbia to the late John L, Herr, Sr. and Margaret T. (Hasselbach) Herr.

John was a lifelong resident of this area. After high school, John proudly served his country in the Philippines and Guam as a Seabee in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a man of many intrinsic talents including a stint as Mr. Lindsey in his own beauty salon after graduating from Emil’s Hairdressing Academy. John always had the ability to think outside the box and was known as a problem solver during his many years as printer and head mechanic at R. R. Donnelley Printing Co. His talent as a woodworker was showcased in his many lovingly crafted projects, including small jewel boxes, heirloom cradles for his grandchildren and many furniture pieces. He also enjoyed his years of league bowling, keeping fit at “the gym”, jigsaw puzzles and reading. His family also loved his cooking talents. His other passion was traveling. John and Donna enjoyed many cross-country trips, exploring all 50 states. Their travels also took them to Europe, Canada and South America.

John leaves behind Donna, his wife of forty years; one sister, Lynn A. McNaughton (John) of Columbia and two children, Dianna L., wife of Dennis L. Zimmerman of Lancaster, Michelle L. Kilheffer of Northampton; three grandchildren, Eric D. Rutherford (Anna M.), Allyson R. Kilheffer, Chellby R. Kilheffer Johnson (Charles D.). Pappy John also leaves behind his three great grandsons and squirt-gun buddies, Barrett, Yuri, Edmund. To his great joy, another great grandchild is on the way. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary E. Detwiler, E. Arlene Barsell and Margaret T. Schnell.

Wilda A. Droege, 89, a lifelong Columbia resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 15, 2021. She was the wife of the late Aloysius “Al” W. Droege, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1972. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth Cunningham Groom.

Wilda retired after more than 20 years of service from the former Columbia Garment Company where she was employed in retail sales. A member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Columbia, she enjoyed walking, traveling, cooking for her family, reading, creating stained glass, her monthly card club meetings and going to the mountains.  Most important to her was keeping company with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Pamela Herchelroath (Barry); Theresa Gambler (Kurt); Mary Messser (Ron); Mark Droege (Terry); Eric Droege (Kim); David Droege (JoAnn); Bob Droege (Bev); 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, William Groom (Miriam) and sister, Jane Zeamer and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Catherine Schlotthauer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St., Columbia, PA 17512 on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen P. Kelley, Celebrant. A public service to celebrate Donnie’s life will be held on Saturday November 20, 2021, which will be held at LCBC Manheim Campus in the west wing.

Donnie Wade Mathews, 70, of Mount Joy ran into the arms of Jesus on the morning of November 11, 2021. He was born on September 25, 1951 in Moultrie, GA to parents Floyd and Lovelace Mathews. He was, however, raised by his Aunt Maude and Uncle Tilman, whom he loved dearly. After being discharged from the Army in 1973, he moved to Pennsylvania. He loved to be outdoors and enjoyed hunting. He could often be found at Dairy Queen, ordering a Butterfinger Blizzard with extra, extra marshmallow. And in recent months he had found the joy of collecting coins and going to auctions with his dear friends.

Donnie was a most generous man, always willing to help anyone who had a need. He truly never met a stranger he didn’t like. He met his wife, Winnie Mathews. In 1981 when they both were working for Greiner Industries in Elizabethtown. It truly was love at first sight! He and his wife were partners at LCBC, Manheim Campus, where they served as greeters for the KidMinistry. It brought him great joy as he watched the kids slide down the sliding board and into the KidMin room.  He loved Jesus Christ with all his heart, and wanted everyone to know the joy of knowing Him, as well. He had a passion to share Jesus with those caught in the cycle of addiction, and always wanted to help those who were less fortunate than himself.

Donnie was a man who always loved his family first. He enjoyed spending time with them, going out to eat, having cookouts together, and telling wild and grand stories. His grandchildren were truly the apples of his eye. He loved spending time on the floor, playing cars and trucks with his great grandson, and snuggling for hours on end with his newest great granddaughter.

Donnie leaves behind his wife of nearly forty years, Winifred (Winnie Keesey) Mathews of Mount Joy; two daughters, Crystal (Burkhart) Silkworth, fiancée of Michael Hawthrone, and Nikki (Burkhart) Geesey, wife of Jake Geesey, both of Mount Joy; four grandchildren, Gracelyn Silkworth, partner of Nathan Bucks of Elizabethtown, Tenley Silkworth of Sykesville, MD, Kaylee Geesey and Keegan Geesey, both of Mount Joy; two step granddaughters, Candice Hawthrone and Temperance Hawthrone, both of Mount Joy; and two great grandchildren, Alfred Matthew Bucks and Theadora Ruby Bucks, both of Elizabethtown. He also leaves behind his little dog Blossom. She was truly his best friend. He pampered her by microwaving her food and spreading it out on a placemat to make it easier for her to chew. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Paul Geesey and his mother-in-law, Nancy Keesey.

There will be a private viewing for the family on Friday afternoon, November 19, 2021. 

A public service to celebrate Donnie’s life will be held on Saturday November 20, 2021, which will be held at LCBC Manheim Campus in the west wing. There will be a time to visit with the family from 10-10:30, with the celebration service beginning at 10:30. Dress is casual.

James (Jim) R. Kane, Jr., 87, of Lancaster died peacefully at home on November 9, 2021. Born in Ashland, PA to the late James R. Kane, Sr. and Mary Noon Kane, Jim was the oldest of fourteen children. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Kane, a brother Gerald Kane, a sister Barbra Herwick, and a grandson, Eli Frailey.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Susan; daughters Lisa Kane, Kristyne Dimon, and Deborah Frailey; and son Steven Shirk. He is also survived by six grandchildren, brothers, sisters and many nieces and nephews.

He resided in Lancaster County for the past 50 years. Jim was employed as a sales manager for a major company. In later years, he partnered with his wife in their retail business for 20 years. He was a member of Calvary Church, Lancaster.

Susan “Sue” Jane Houser, daughter of the late Victor E. and Mary L. (Quickel) Bailey of York, PA, entered into Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 4:45 PM with her children by her side after a brief COVID illness. She was 72 years old. She is survived by her children, Gretchen A. Houser-Benner (wife of Marc Benner) of Mount Joy, Lancaster County, and Andrew J. Houser of Wrightsville, York County. She leaves behind two brothers, Ronald E. Bailey (husband of Jeanne Yeager Bailey) of Lancaster County, and Barry L. Bailey of Clinton, MA – she called them “my boys.” She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Joshua Sipe, Brittany Muckel, and Donald Muckel, and two great-grandchildren, Ariana and Scarlette, whom she absolutely loved and adored and would light-up every time she held them or played with them. She additionally leaves behind a number of nephews, nieces, cousins, an aunt, much extended family, and many friends and people who knew her and loved her.

Susan was born on July 09, 1949, in York, PA, and grew up on Princess Street. She was a 1967 graduate of William Penn High School. After marrying and raising a family, Susan went back to school and graduated with an Associate’s Degree from York Technical Institute in York, PA, in 1997. Susan then worked for Strausser Surveying & Engineering Inc. in Lancaster County, GGS Information Services in York County, and Case New Holland N.A. in Lancaster County. 

She was a custodian for Kreutz Creek Presbyterian Church in Hellam, PA, for over 12 years. In 2005-2006 she started the traveling homeless shelter in Columbia, PA, where she served as Director. In 2009-2010, she served on the Board of Directors with Hands Across the Street. Susan was instrumental in getting both programs established for the local community and was very dedicated to their success.

In 2010, she began working in food services for Crossmark at Sam’s Club in East York, PA, and studied for and received her food safety inspection certification. She has been a common fixture at Sam’s Club since then, getting to know many of the members who visited regularly.

She was a member of and volunteered her time with the East Prospect Fire Company in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, holding positions as Secretary, Vice President, and assistant chairperson for Horror Hollow for over 10 years. In that time, she also chaired East Prospect’s Memorial Day Celebration Weekend and was parade master for many years. She additionally worked the voting polls in East Prospect, and volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and helped with Cub Scouts and 4-H.

Sue was a servant of God and her faith was one of the most important things to her. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in East Prospect, PA, since 1980 where she had served as a Trustee and was on the Counting Team for many years.

Sue loved crocheting and doing crafts, loved animals and the beauty of nature. She loved plants in her house and her flower garden in her backyard. Her infectious giggle would make anyone laugh with her. She was very social and loved talking to people. She was strong-willed and independent, yet had a huge heart and was always willing to help anyone and was very giving of herself. She touched many, many lives and will be missed by many people.

Visitors are welcome to meet the family at Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut Street, Columbia, PA, on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, from 4-6 PM, followed by a service and celebration of life. For visitors concerned about attending a viewing and her COVID status, we have been assured that proper preparations will be made and this is now known to be a safe practice. Susan’s remains will be cremated per her wishes, and a private interment will be held on a later date at Mount Rose Cemetery in York, where she will be laid to rest with her parents and other family members who had preceded her in death.

Darlene A. (Queen) Olweiler, 81, of Wrightsville, passed away peacefully at home on November 7, 2021. She was the wife of the late James J. (Oats) Olweiler with whom she was married 50 years until his death in 2018. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Lottie Smith Dixon.

A graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1958, she retired from Armstrong World Industries after 20 years of service where she was employed as a keypunch operator. Darlene was a member of the Grace E.C Church, Columbia and enjoyed attending Holy Trinity Catholic Church with her husband Jimmy. She loved watching the animals that would visit her yard and neighborhood, listening to music and keeping a meticulous home and yard. Darlene will be remembered by many for helping others in need often putting others before herself.

The last of her immediate family, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Martha (Sue) Helton and cousins, several nieces, nephews, neighbors and many dear friends. She ws preceded in death by her brother Lamar Dixon.

A special thanks to Sherry, Dave and Nate Heffner for their love and support of Darlene and Jim along with her special caregivers, Sandi, Lori and Barb and all of her caregivers from Hospice and Community Care.

Richard Allen Shoemaker (Rich), 81, of Lancaster, PA, was called home by the Lord, November 6, 2021.  Born in Kittanning, PA, November 6, 1940, to the late Richard L. and Edith M. Shoemaker, Rich graduated from Leechburg High School (’59) and Edinboro State College (’63) with a B.S. degree in secondary education, teaching 6-7-8-grade math and science at West Leechburg, PA.

Following his marriage to Violet Lye (’65), Rich worked at Alcoa Research Laboratory, New Kensington, PA, while attending the University of Pittsburgh, earning a B.S. in Chemistry. In 1969, he came to Lancaster, PA, with Armstrong World Industries (formerly Armstrong Cork) as a Product Development Chemist. During the last ten years of his career he set up a state-of-the-art laboratory for quantitative and qualitative determination of product emissions, retiring in 1999 as Senior Research Scientist. Rich was a lifetime member of Delaware Valley Chromatography Forum and a member of ASTM E-19 Committee on Indoor Air Quality.

Rich coached 5th and 6th grade basketball under sponsorship of the Rohrerstown Exchange Club. He was a founding member of both Wayside Presbyterian Church and Community Fellowship Church in East Hempfield, serving as a deacon and head usher.

He and his wife loved camping and traveling in their 5th wheel trailer, especially spending many 6-month winters in Fort Myers, FL. Much time was spent puttering in his workshop and taking meticulous care of his lawn and landscaping.

Rich is survived by his devoted wife, Vi; sister Carol Weimer (Benny who passed 10/28/21); sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janet and Larry Means; nieces and nephews: Christie Benton (Eric); Tammy (Steiner) Byrne (Tom); Kevin Means (Greta Marie); great nephews:  Chase Steiner, Zachary Steiner, Luke Means, Joseph Means.

Funeral services will be held at the Eagle Commons Chapel at Woodcrest Villa, 2001 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Conestoga Memorial Park. Friends may view in the chapel beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Galen Kyle Tuell, 52, of Columbia passed away on November 1st, 2021. He was born in Columbia to Orlando and Sharyn Tuell and was a lifelong resident of Columbia. Galen attended Lancaster Catholic High School and graduated from Columbia High School. He loved to cook and was known to be a great chef. Galen was beloved by all the children in his neighborhood. He also was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame fan. Galen was a lifelong family member at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Columbia.

Abram was avid about hunting, crabbing, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors

Abram O. Duke, Jr., 83, passed away on Sunday, October 31st, 2021. Born in Washington Boro, he was the son of the late Abram, Sr. and Edith Frey Duke. Abram was the husband for sixty-four years to the late Rose Shultz Duke who preceded him on February 24th, 2021. He served six years with U.S. Marine Corp Reserves and was honorably discharged. Abram was close with his two brothers and lived an active lifestyle. He was avid about hunting, crabbing, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. He was happily involved in his six children’s lives. Abram will be deeply missed by his family and will remain in their memories for the outstanding man that he was.

Abram is survived by five sons and one daughter, Abram Duke III, Jeffrey Duke, Tony Duke, Timothy Duke, Tracy Duke Nixdorf, and Mitchell Duke. He also had three daughters-in-law, Carol, wife of Tony, Penny, wife of Timothy, and Tammy, wife of Mitchell. Eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. Abram’s siblings include Dorothy Dinkle, Jane Kauffman, Nancy Baer, Helen Buckmoyer, Henry Duke, Benjamin Duke, Carol Adams, and the late Verna Frey, Lottie Douts, Mary Ellen Schaeffer, and Cathryn Henny.

Melissa was a graduate of Eastern York High School with the Class of 2002. She previously worked with JCPenney, T-Mobile, and most recently New Cumberland Federal Credit Union. Melissa always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart. She was loyal and fiercely independent. Above all, she loved Jesus and expressed that through her genuine love for people. Melissa was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church and attended ladies bible study at Calvary Church in Lancaster.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, William Rexroad and Vergie Rexroad; her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Charles.

Aster Demissie Bogale, 56, of 213 Perthshire Drive, Lancaster, PA died Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Hospice and Community Care.   Born in Addisababa, Ethiopia she was the daughter of Demise Bogale and Admasua Wolde Amanuel.

She was employed as a caregiver for Keystone CSG.  Aster was a member of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Landisville.

Surviving is her husband, Jundi; daughter, Divora Bekele of Lancaster; brothers, Woubishet Tolossc of Lititz; Efrem Araya, Wondu Habtie, Alemayehu Demissie, and Yared Habtie all of Ethiopia.

Services for Aster will be held from the Ethiopian Evangelical Church, 175 Church Street, Landisville, PA on Saturday, November 6, 2021 starting at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Demeke Getahun, officiating.  Interment will follow in Landisville Mennonite Cemetery.

Emily’s gift and passion was art, but she also enjoyed gardening and square dancing

Emily Jane Nendza, 94, of Lancaster passed away on November 1st, 2021. She was born in South Fayette Township in Western PA to the late Laurence and Willa Stom. Emily grew up in Bridgeville, PA and following high school she attended art school and was a fashion artist for Gimbels Department Store in Pittsburgh. After moving to Landisville, she became a secretary at Landisville Elementary School until her eventual retirement. Emily’s gift and passion was art, but she also enjoyed gardening and square dancing. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church and later the Church of God of Landisville where she was active in all church activities. Emily was a loving mother, foster parent, grandmother and great grandmother.

Emily leaves behind her sons, Robert, husband of Julie Nendza of Catoosa, OK, Scott, husband of Jean Nendza of Lancaster, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Nendza in 2013; two siblings, Marjorie Gearhart and F. Eugene Stom.

Darren loved spending time outdoors, especially riding his Harley, but also enjoyed biking, kayaking, hunting, and archery.

Darren E. Geesey, 46, of Marietta, PA, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was the son of (late) William and Beverly (Perry) Geesey, and the loving companion of Lisa Peters. Darren was a graduate of Elizabethtown High School, and he worked as a project manager for Warfel Construction. 

Darren loved spending time outdoors, especially riding his Harley, but also enjoyed biking, kayaking, hunting, and archery. He was known to be a big goofball and a bit of a Star Wars nerd. He was a fan of the Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles football teams and enjoyed watching stand-up comedy. Above all, Darren was very compassionate, kind, and considerate. He would do absolutely anything for his family, whom he loved beyond words. 

In addition to his mother, Darren is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Garber, of Athens, GA; his son, Bryce Geesey, of Elizabethtown, PA; his brothers, Chris J. Geesey, husband of Gwen L., of Bainbridge, PA; David P. Geesey, husband of Danielle, of Elizabethtown, PA; nieces, Kristin T. and Ashley M. Geesey; and nephews, Gavin and Jack Geesey. He was preceded in death by his father, William Geesey. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 4th, 2021 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA 17512. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Darren’s memory to the Sebastian Foundation at 121 Ridgewood Court, Columbia, PA 17512 would be greatly appreciated.

Marvin Clayton Burkhart, 93, passed away on October 27th, 2021. He was born December 1, 1927 in West Lampeter Township to the late David B. and Esther A. Burkhart. Preceded in death was his wife of 57 years Dorothy J. and his brother Vernon C. Burkhart. Marvin was WWII veteran and served in the European Theater. He was a member of the Elizabethtown American Legion Post 329 and the oldest living member of The Church of God of Landisville. Marvin worked as an area manager for Turkey Hill Mini Markets for 22 years. Prior to that he was an agent with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Marvin enjoyed hunting, golf, fishing, and especially Contract Bridge. He was a Ruby Life Master with the American Contract Bridge League and a member of the Maple Grove Bridge Club. After retirement he worked as a Marketing Director for Superior Sign of Elizabethtown for 14 years.

Marvin is survived by his sister Arlene, wife of the late Ross Kopp of Columbia and children Dawn, wife of Dennis Bentzel of Landisville, Terry, husband of Kathy Burkhart of Elizabethtown, Jana, wife of Jack Tomlinson of Lititz, Carol, wife of Arthur Quinn of Mount Joy, and Tina Duckworth of Manheim. In addition to his children, he is survived by 7 grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.

Lena P. Olena, 84, of Lancaster passed away on October 23rd, 2021. She was born in Grundy, VA to the late Fred and Sallie Stiltner. Lena was a graduate of Grundy High School with the Class of 1955 where she was a member of the Beta Club and National Honors Society. Following graduation, Lena moved to Lancaster and was an investment banker for many years until her eventual retirement. During her career, she was active in the National Association of Bank Women, the Lancaster County Estate Planning Council, the American Institute of Bankers, and was on the Board of Directors for the Citizens Scholarship Foundation of Lancaster County. Lena also was a Den Mother in Boy Scouts and a Girl Scout leader. Most importantly, she adored her family and treasured spending time with them. Lena spent her final years at Luther Care and was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Lena leaves behind her children, Brad, husband of Cindy Olena of Lancaster, T. Shawn, husband of Brenda Olena of Willow Street, Keith, husband of Carol Olena of Rockwood, Melanie, wife of Karl Kuhn of Nottingham, J. Scott, husband of Margaret Olena of Columbia; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Abby Shultz and Shela McComsey; multiple grand-dogs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tuffield “Bud” Olena, III in 1992; three siblings, Gaines Stiltner, Brenda Lehman, and Nina Lois Mertz.

Patricia A. Tillman, 78, of Wrightsville passed away on October 20th, 2021. She was born in Columbia to the late Samuel and Pauline Pelen Newlin and was a lifelong resident of this area. Pat was a graduate of Columbia High School with the Class of 1961. She loved traveling, especially to Florida. She enjoyed nature, bird watching, and solving puzzles like sudoku. Pat was a doting wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who adored her family and treasured spending time with them. 

Pat leaves behind her husband of sixty years Carl Tillman, Jr. of Wrightsville; two daughters, Kim, wife of Albert Stang of York, Carla, wife of Corey Myers of York; two granddaughters, Haley and Zoe Myers both of York; her brother, Gary, husband of Terri Newlin of The Villages, FL; her nephew, Joel Newlin of Columbia.

He was a brilliant man who was thoughtful, caring, and a strong believer in the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Julius Cesaro of Mount Joy

Our wonderful father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, educator, and musician, Julius passed away peacefully in the Lords arms October 11, 2021. He was 93 years old.

A first generation natural born American, Julius was the son of Italian immigrants, Anthony Cesaro and Frieda Maltese Cesaro.  Julius was an avid classical music lover and took great pride playing oboe in the US Army Orchestra during the Korean War. He also held education in such high regard that he became an accounting teacher and later the chairman of accounting and bookkeeping at Eastern District High School in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York City. He was convinced that despite the circumstances surrounding a young person, hard work and education was a transformative force available for each and every person who embraced it.

Julius always made himself available to family and friends for his advice and input for everyday problems or just to talk and laugh.  He was a brilliant man who was thoughtful, caring, and a strong believer in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. A loving, kind soul, having a contagious smile and laugh, he always had a positive outlook despite life’s hardships and difficulties. He was a loving dad who loved his family with all of his heart, and impacted the lives of those who knew him. 

The youngest of four children, family members who preceded in the journey to heaven are; his loving wife of 61 years, Harriett, and siblings, Francis, Peter and Nicholas. Julius is survived by his daughters Kathleen, wife of Robert Shepp, Mount Joy, PA; Jo-Ann, wife of Charles Rey, Massapequa, NY, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Deborah Ann Beaston, 68, of Columbia passed away on October 4th, 2021. She was born in Columbia to the late Carl and Elizabeth Torbert and was a lifelong resident of this area. Deborah was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and attended York College. She worked for many years at CoreStates Bank, the Lancaster County Prison, and Fulton Bank, and Dr. Ellenberger before her eventual retirement. Deborah enjoyed spending time with her family, including touring the battlefields of Gettysburg and watching wrestling. She was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and long time member of the Columbia Borough Fire Department (Hambones).

Deborah leaves behind her children, Erik Beaston and Cindy Beaston both of Columbia; her canine companions, Stormy and Sallie; special friends, Diane, wife of Warren Jensen of Bozeman, MT, Rick Warner of Columbia, Walter, husband of Tracy Beaston of Marietta.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Columbia.  Elizabeth lived and worked as a registered nurse all over the United States, including New York, New Mexico, Colorado, Pennsylvania and California.

Funeral services for Elizabeth will be held privately for her family, with burial at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Elizabeth (Baumann) Marlowe died peacefully in her home in Columbia, Pennsylvania after a very brief illness.

Elizabeth or Betty, as she was known by friends and family, was born in Columbia, PA in 1929. Her family owned Baumann’s garage and restaurant on 3rd St. and Linden Ave. for many years and she helped serve customers there as a teenager.  Elizabeth graduated from Columbia High School and worked at the Hamilton Watch Factory before moving to New York City to study Nursing.  After becoming a Registered Nurse, she went on to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Hunter College, also in New York City.  Elizabeth loved to travel and could not stay in one place for very long.  She lived and worked as a registered nurse all over the United States, including New York, New Mexico, Colorado, Pennsylvania and California.  It was in San Francisco, California where she met her husband, Peter Marlowe and raised her two children, however, she always returned to Columbia, PA where her beloved parents lived.

Elizabeth is survived by her brother, William F. Baumann of Texas, her daughter, Lisa Marlowe, wife of Robert Beaver of California, her son Matthew Marlowe, of Pennsylvania, and her two grandchildren, Sierra and Noelle Beaver in California.  She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Ted, Bob, Mike, Diane, and Bonnie, as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Marlowe, and her siblings, David Baumann, Shirley Diener, and Diane Baumann.  Funeral services for Elizabeth will be held privately for her family, with burial at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens in Columbia.
