William "Bill" E. Lewis

Bill was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing especially at the Holtwood Dam.

In honor of Bill’s final wishes there will be no formal services.

William “Bill” E. Lewis, 69, of Wrightsville passed away on February 12, 2025. He was born in Columbia to the late Benjamin and Arlene Hake Lewis and was a lifelong resident of this area.

Bill was a graduate of Columbia High School with the Class of 1973 and proudly served in the United State Marine Corps. Following his service, he worked as a machine operator with Bway Corporation until his eventual retirement. Bill was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing especially at the Holtwood Dam. He was also an avid reader. Bill was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle who adored his family and never missed any of his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Bill leaves behind his daughter Heather, wife of JJ Heiland of Wrightsville; three grandsons, Devon, husband of Kierstan Heiland of Marietta, Julius Heiland, companion of Alyssa Snihur of Wrightsville, Landon Heiland of Wrightsville; a great granddaughter, Rory Heiland of Marietta; two brothers, Gary, husband of Kim Lewis, Robert, husband of Laurie Lewis both of Columbia; numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Lewis in 2022 and a brother James Lewis.
