Cyril J. “Cy” Greenya, 79 a lifelong Columbia resident, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. He was the loving husband of Debra Wyer Greenya with whom he was married 45 years. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Cyril A. and Ella Burke Greenya.

Cy graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1962 and received his B.S from La Salle University in 1966. He proudly served his country in the U.S Navy from 1967 thru 1971. Cy retired in 2020 from the Donegal Mutual Insurance Company as Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer as well as Corporate Compliance Officer and Board Member. He served in various underwriting management and executive positions over his 49 years of service.

A devoted member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Columbia he served on the Parish Advisory Council, Parish Finance Council and sang in the choir. He was a longtime member of the Lancaster Barbershop Harmony Society as well as Vocal Image and Susquehanna Sound Quartets. Cy was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2294, Catholic War Veterans Post 1306 and the Columbia – Middletown Elks Lodge 1074. In his spare time, Cy enjoyed traveling and rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Adam Greenya; daughter Amy wife of Adam Hess; granddaughters, Evelyn Greenya, Lillian Hess; sister, Jody wife of Stan Zeamer and nieces Mandy Zeamer and Lindsay wife of Tim McGuire.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 121 S. Second St. Columbia PA 17512 on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Peter I. Hahn, Celebrant and Rev. Augustine Joseph, Concelebrate. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.  Friends may view at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc. 519 Walnut St. Columbia PA 17512 on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. At the request of the family, kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church at the above address.
