Donald R. Pickle, Sr., of Columbia went to be with the Lord on November 5th, 2018. He was raised in Marietta to the late Roy and Margaret Campbell Pickle. Donald was a graduate of the former Marietta High School with the Class of 1950 and proudly served in the United States Navy in Korea aboard the U.S.S. Stockham DD683. Following his service, he owned Pickle’s Barber Shop in Marietta for thirty years and then started his own hauling business. Donald loved to hunt and fish and even taught his grandchildren how. He was an accomplished artist, musician, and gardener who was proud of his talents. Donald was a member of the N.R.A., American Legion Post 466, and the V.F.W. Post 2435. He will be remembered for his generosity to others and for the love of his family.
Donald adored and was dedicated to his wife for sixty seven years, Jacqueline Helwig Pickle of Columbia. He also leaves behind his children, Donald, Jr., husband of Amy Pickle of Marietta, Jon, husband of Patricia Pickle of Conestoga, Susan, wife of Paul Enrico of Hellam, Julieann, wife of Patrick Davis, Sr. of Mount Joy; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; his sister, Suzanne, wife of Steven Doles of Seal Beach, CA.
A celebration of Donald’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9th, 2018 at Reich’s Evangelical Congregational Church, 338 Stackstown Rd, Marietta, PA 17547. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
