Earl R. Harry

Growing up on Chestnut Hill, Earl developed a love of the outdoors, gardening, animals, baseball, and hunting.

Memorial Service: Reformation Lutheran Church, 2100 Manor Ridge Drive, Lancaster, PA  17603 on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 12:00 p.m.

Family and friends may view at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery. 

 

Earl Richard Harry, 95, loving husband, adoring father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and a great friend to countless others throughout a well-lived life, died peacefully in the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday, June 29, 2024.  He was the husband of Janet Kilp Harry for 74 years.

Earl was born in Columbia, PA, son of the late Howard M. Harry and Ellen Lenhard Harry.

Growing up on Chestnut Hill, Earl developed a love of the outdoors, gardening, animals, baseball, and hunting.  He also grew in faith with a strong love for Jesus.  A lifelong Lutheran, Earl was a past member of Concordia Lutheran Church and a charter member of Reformation Lutheran Church.

Later in life, he and Janet enjoyed traveling throughout the USA.  He liked listening to George Strait songs, and could sing every word even with declining memory.

Mr. Harry graduated from Columbia High School in 1947 and worked at Hamilton Watch and PPL.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Janis Richardson (Barry) of Lancaster; Joanne Thomas (Robert, Jr.) of Columbia; and son, Earl Jeffrey (Peg) of Marietta.  Seven grandchildren also survive: Scott (Yara) Richardson; Matthew (Amy) Richardson; Ellen (Jason) Richardson Stoltzfus; Abby (Nathan) Martin; Robert (Sarah) Thomas, III.; E. Jeffrey (Emily) Harry, Jr.; Rachel (Ryan) Mock. Earl was also blessed with 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Paul, Ralph, Arlene, Jay, and Annabelle.

The Memorial Service will be held at Reformation Lutheran Church, 2100 Manor Ridge Drive, Lancaster, PA  17603 on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Chavez, officiating.  Interment will follow in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery.  Family and friends may view at the church one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Reformation Lutheran Church Building Fund.
