Francis (Joe) Joseph Mongeau, Sr., 80, Columbia, died peacefully in his sleep on December 2, 2018 at Lancashire Hall after a lengthy illness. Born in Cabbage Hill, he was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Krimmel) Mongeau. Joe is survived by brothers, Edward Mongeau (Doris), Robert Mongeau, Sr., and sisters, Theresa Cameron (Don), all of Lancaster, and Bernadette Markley of Florida. He will be missed by his three children, Diana Fels (William Jr.) of Mount Joy, Francis Joseph Mongeau, Jr. (Angela) of Columbia, and Marci Mowery (Joseph Frassetta) of Camp Hill, his eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Joe was preceded in death by two brothers, James Krimmel and Richard Mongeau, one sister Audrey Weiler, and one great granddaughter, Leah Vogel.
Joe was a man who liked to live by his own rules and was not ruled by material things. He enjoyed spending time with his siblings and was known to be quite a dancer. Joe loved to tinker around his wood shop and was always willing to help a neighbor who needed a hand. He retired from Trojan Yacht. Joe will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local food bank or your favorite charity in Joe’s name.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 14th, 2018 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512.
