James "Jim" Robert Haug

Jim was an avid photographer and founded the Facebook group “What's Happening in Columbia, Pa. and Surrounding Area”

Services: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512.

The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Silver Spring Cemetery.

 

James “Jim” Robert Haug, 72, of Columbia passed away, surrounded by his family on December 10, 2023. He was born in Columbia to the late Carl and Anna Haug and was a lifelong resident of Columbia.

Jim was a graduate of Columbia High School with the Class of 1969 and proudly served in the United States Navy. Following his service, he worked as a letter carrier with the Columbia Post Office until his retirement. He then worked for a number of years with the Lancaster Newspaper. Jim was a member of Columbia VFW Post #2435 and also a faithful member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and visiting his cabin in Potter County. Jim also was an avid photographer and founded the Facebook group “What's Happening in Columbia, Pa. and Surrounding Area”. He was well known for his photos of the Veterans Memorial Bridge as well as many photos of Columbia landmarks. Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle who adored his family and treasured spending time with them.

Jim leaves behind his wife of fifty-one years Paula Haug of Columbia; four daughters, Patty Haug of Columbia, Jenny, wife of Jim Jones of Columbia, Jessy Haug, fiancée of Ryan Einzig of Elizabethtown, Pammy Haug of Columbia; eleven grandchildren, Tonya, Hunter, Ava, Cash, Gregory, Jerrika, Jaydin, Damen, Veronica, Azzy, and Gabby; five great grandchildren, Evelyn, Emma, Alexandra, Addilyn, and Ayden; seven sisters, Carla Lindenberger, Judy Clark, Donna Haug, Cathy Berdiner, Sue Wieler, Sharon Herr, and Jody Croft; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Haug.
