Sister Mary Matthew Janciar, ASC, 93, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. Born in Johnstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Theresa Cintula Janciar. Sister Mary Matthew was preceded in death by her siblings, John Kuzbel, Joseph Kuzbel, Leonard Kuzbel, Anna Rusin and Elizabeth Kessler.

Sister Mary Matthew entered the Adorers of the Blood of Christ on August 29, 1939. Her ministries included teaching, especially the languages, Community leadership, Pastoral ministry and education and ministry to immigrants.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Chapel of St. Anne's Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave. Columbia PA 17512 on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Mitzel, Celebrant. Burial will follow in the adjoining convent cemetery. A brief service and recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Donations in memory of Sr. Mary Matthew may be made to the ASC Retirement Fund, 4233 Sulphur Ave., St. Louis MO 63109 or at www.adorers.org.
