Robert A. "Pork" Bailey, 80, of Columbia and Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Emily J. "Joan" Germer Bailey to whom he was married 51 years until her death in 2009. Born in Columbia, he was the son of Margaret Bailey Peters and the late Clair Peters.
Pork retired as a truck driver and beer deliveryman from Sheffer Distributors, York and Littles Beverage Center in Columbia. After his retirement he worked at the Manheim Auto Auction. He was active in fire service in Columbia for many years including serving as Columbia Boro Fire Chief. He was a lifetime member of the Shawnee Fire Company serving in various capacities including company chief, and participated in the Shawnee Marching Club and Honor Guard.
Pork was a lifetime member of the former Susquehanna Fire Co.; B.P.O E. #1074 and the Columbia Fraternal Association. He enjoyed NASCAR and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. Above all he enjoyed the company of his family and many friends.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Robert A., Jr. husband of Lisa Bailey; Nancy wife of Jon Abrahams; Susan wife of Michael Hawkins; Ann wife of Don Warner, Jr.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl, Clarence, and Tom Peters; sisters, Joanne Sheid, Claire Markley and Beth Metzger. His brother Dale Peters preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc. 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA 0n Friday, October 26, 2018 promptly at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Douglas G. Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Joy Cemetery. Family and friends may view at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Please do not send flowers; instead please consider donations in Pork's memory to the Columbia Boys Athletic Association, PO Box 372, Columbia, PA 17512.
