Tom had a passion for bowling and participated in the national tournaments.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512.

The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time.

 

Thomas “Tom” Michener, Jr., 80, of Columbia passed away on May 11, 2024. He was born in Marietta to the late Thomas, Sr. and Effie Michener and was a lifelong resident of this area.

Tom was a graduate of Columbia High School with the Class of 1962 and proudly served in the United States Army and National Guard. He worked for fifteen years with the former R.R. Donnelley and owned the former Columbia Bowl. Most recently, he was self employed as a landlord. Tom had a passion for bowling and participated in the national tournaments. While traveling to these tournaments, he would visit the landmarks near the tournaments with his family. Tom was the Columbia High School Bowling Team coach for many years and also a men’s softball coach for over thirty years. In his spare time, Tom liked to restore vintage Fiat Spiders, watch movies, and spend time with his family.

Tom leaves behind his wife of almost forty-two years, Cindy Michener of Columbia; four daughters, Sherry, wife of Scott Houseal of Dillsburg, Amber, wife of Greg Firoglanis of Lancaster, Deann, wife of Eric Gochenauer of Columbia, Allison, wife of Nate Kreiser of Mountville; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one brother, Charlie, husband of Sylvia Michener of Columbia; numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and John Michener.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
