David Santiago, 74, of Mount Joy passed away, surrounded by his loving family on March 12th, 2019. He was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico to the late Calixto and Josefa Santiago. David worked for over thirty years for Armstrong World Industries. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He treasured spending time with his family and playing games like dominos. David was a faithful member of Iglesia Restauración en Cristo Church and loved his church family.

 David leaves behind his wife of almost eighteen years, Eulogia “Dolly” Santiago of Mount Joy; two daughters, Lisa, wife of Brian Blessing of York, Nichole, wife of Jason Gutshall of Boalsburg; four grandchildren, Olivia, Loren, John, Adrianne; seven siblings, Crispin, Virginia, Alice, Otolio, Alfonso, Carmen, Wilson; three step-children, Anna, Lisette, Victor; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Services for David will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16th, 2019 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St, Columbia, PA 17512. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15th, 2019 and also one hour prior to services on Saturday. He will be laid to rest by his mother at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. Carl August Haug, 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1st, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born in Columbia to the late Carl Albert Haug and Anna Catherine Fisher and was the husband of the late Anna A. Haug who passed away in 2012. Raised in Ironville, Carl attended a one room school house and Concordia Lutheran Church. He graduated from Columbia High School with the Class of 1942 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was sent to the South Pacific and was stationed in New Guinea and the Admiralty Islands. Carl retired from RCA in 1985 as a test set electrician. Most older Columbians remember him as "Haugie" as he operated a TV repair shop for many years while working for RCA. Carl loved being with family and always looked forward to family gatherings. He enjoyed food and eating out, especially at Texas Roadhouse. Carl loved sitting by the river and sitting on his bench at home, relaxing in the sun. He looked forward to watching Lawrence Welk on Saturday nights.

Carl is survived by his eight children, Carla, wife of the late Carl Lindnberger of Columbia, Judy, wife of Bill Clark of Columbia, James, husband of Paula Haug of Columbia, Donna Haug of Columbia, Cathy, wife of George Berdiner of Millersville, Sue Wieler, wife of Don Gauntner of Seven Valleys, Sharon, wife of Larry Herr of Washington Boro, Jody, wife of Robert Croft of Washington Boro; nineteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Haug, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Services for Carl will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7th, 2019 at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA 17512. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial with military honors will follow at Silver Spring Cemetery. Glenn Allen Weaver, 59, of Columbia passed away on February 24th, 2019. He was born in Columbia to the late George H. and Elsie McCauley Weaver and was a lifelong resident of this area. Glenn attended Columbia High School and worked for more than thirty years at Grinnell and Anvil International.

Glenn leaves behind his children, Amanda, wife of Brad Shoff of Columbia, Glenn, Jr. husband of Jenice Weaver of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine, wife of Michael Hess of Columbia; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joan Weaver in 2013; four brothers, Paul McCauley, Pete, Gary, and Jake Weaver.

Anna Mae "Sis" Edmond, 89, transitioned from earth to join the "Heavenly Choir" on Sunday, February 17, 2019. Anna Mae was the daughter of the late Edward and Estella M. (Randolph) Duncan and the wife of the late Leroy "Roy" Edmond. She was a 1947 graduate of Columbia High School. She was preceded in death by her brother Edward "Bud" Duncan of Pottsville, Pa.; her sister Josephine "Peonie" Duncan; her aunt Josephine Johnson; and her nephews Douglas Irons and Arthur "Doochie" Duncan. Anna Mae will be missed by many as she was a Godly "Village" Mom and homemaker. She was a self-employed seamstress and tailor who could create, repair and improvise fashions and anything that needed to be stitched on her sewing machine. She enjoyed knitting and "Nan-Nan" loved to create beautiful fashions and afghans for her grandchildren, family and friends. She would also knit lap blankets and donate them to charities. Anna Mae liked to relax by working word puzzles, reading and playing games, especially Scrabble with family, where she ruled as the relentless champion. Until her recent illness, Anna Mae served the community as the elected Columbia Borough Fifth Ward Election Board Minority Inspector.

Anna Mae's greatest joy was being in service to the Lord at Mount Zion A.M.E. Church. Deaconess Anna served faithfully in the Prayer Ministry of the church. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Singers, the Naomi Alliance Women's Ministry ages 40+ and the Julia Sweeney Davis Missionary Society. Deaconess Anna also served as the Chair of the Finance Committee and Vice-Chair of the Board of Stewards. Her faithful service and exemplary Christian life was recognized by the Philadelphia Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in May 2007 at the 191st Session when she was consecrated a "Deaconess" of the church. Deaconess Anna was also honored by Mount Zion A.M.E. Church after renovation of the social hall was completed, it was dedicated the Anna M. Edmond Social Hall.

Deaconess Anna is survived by her son, Charles Duncan and daughter-in-law Sandra of Columbia; son Sam Edmond of Marietta; daughter Tammy Edmond of Columbia; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family, friends and well-wishers are invited to attend the public viewing at Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, 519 Walnut Street, Columbia on Thursday, February 28th from 6-8 p.m. and the Celebration of Life Christian service at: Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, 222 S. Fifth Street, Columbia on Friday, March 1st at 11 a.m. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., one hour before service. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in memory of Deaconess Anna Mae to Mount Zion A.M.E. Church Julia Sweeney Davis Missionary Society.

William J. Radziewicz, Sr., 70, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at York Hospital. Born in Shamokin, PA he was the son of the late Stanley and Regina Dermont Radziewicz. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from McCrory Stores where he was employed as a construction supervisor.

Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 469, Wrightsville; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5752, Mount Joy; Red Rose Memorial Post 2435, VFW, Columbia; Catholic War Veterans Post 1306, Columbia; Foresters of America, Columbia; Wrightsville Social Club and the Seagraves Social Club.

He is survived by his children, Melissa, wife of Jonathan Kline; William J. Radziewicz, Jr.; MSgt Stephen, husband of Rebecca Radziewicz; eight grandchildren and five brothers and sisters.

A full military graveside service will be held at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.

Jeanette M. Sherk, 63, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at her residence. She was the wife of Stephen L. Sherk with whom she was married 41 years. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late J. Paul and Bertha Hess Witmer. She was also preceded in death by her step mother Sarah Witmer.

A Penn Manor graduate, Class of 1974, she also attended Millersville University. Jeanette was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Columbia and was a devoted homemaker. She spent many years in the banking profession, finishing her career at the Union Community Bank, Columbia. Active in the Columbia community and always ready to serve the public, she served in various capacities with the Columbia Life Network; Columbia Education Foundation and Homes of Hope. She served as treasurer of the CBAA for many years as well as serving on the Columbia School Board. For the past 12 years, Jeanette served as the Board President of the Columbia Public Library.

In addition to her husband are her children, Stephanie, wife of Jonathan Gerber; Nicholas Sherk; Thomas Sherk; grandsons, Jackson and Cameron; brothers, Nelson Witmer (Sandy) and Benjamin Witmer (Darla), as well as her two faithful companions, Charlie Beagle and Zibbie. She was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Witmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St., Columbia, PA 17512 on Saturday, February 23, 2019 promptly at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen P. Kelley, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the mass. Eric Russell Wallace, 37, of Manheim passed away suddenly on February 14th, 2019. He was born at Duke University in Durham, NC to Kevin and Robin Wallace. Eric was graduate of Elizabethtown High School with the Class of 1999 and was a member of their inaugural hockey team. He was an avid ice and roller hockey player before his car accident in 2011 that left him somewhat physically disabled. He also loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. Eric was a loving son, brother, and uncle who adored his family.

Eric leaves behind his parents, Kevin, Sr. husband of Robin Wallace of Manheim; his brother, Kevin Wallace, Jr., fiancé of Heather Allison of Elizabethtown; nephew, Kolby Wallace of Elizabethtown; grandparents, Norman and Margaret Tillman of Columbia; grandfather, Ray Wallace of Columbia; a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Hannah Wallace.

Julia A. "Jan" Simms, 64, of York, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the York Hospital. She was the lifetime companion of 48 years of George M. Roundtree who survives.

Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Jankins Simms. A graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1972, Jan was employed for the past 21 years as a machine operator at Flinchbaugh's Engineering, Inc., Hallam.

She will be remembered as the "Rock" of her family whom she loved dearly.

In addition to George, she is survived by two sons, Tyrone S. husband of Tara Simms; Michael A. Simms; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers, Charles Simms; Kevin Simms; Keith Simms; sisters, Pam Simms and Michelle wife of Darryl Grimms. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Craig and Stevie Simms.

Homegoing services will be held at the Columbia U.M. Church, 510 Walnut St., Columbia, PA on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Adrian Boxley, officiating. Burial will follow in Habecker Mennonite Cemetery. Family and friends may view at the church one hour prior to the service. Betty Kloidt

Betty was a kind & loving person to all those with whom she came in contact and was always complimentary.

Betty Kloidt, 89, of Columbia, PA passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019.

Betty was born on September 22, 1929 in Warren, Ohio. Her family moved to Columbia in 1934 at which time they became members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Louise Prugar, and the wife of the late William Kloidt, Sr. who passed away in May 2009 after celebrating 59 years of marriage.

A sister, Marian and a brother, Larry preceded her in death.

Betty was a kind and loving person to all those with whom she came in contact and was always complimentary.

Betty was a 1947 graduate of Columbia High School.

In 1973 she and her husband started Kloidt's Flower Shoppe. The shop was a staple on Locust Street in downtown Columbia for many years. She made many friends and acquaintances at the shop and years later she would come in contact with her former customers who recalled Betty arranging their wedding flowers or prom flowers.

The shop also sponsored a men's and a women's softball team in the late 70's and 80's. In 1990 Bill and Betty were awarded a lifetime membership in the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Betty is survived by her son, Bill Jr., and daughter-in-law, Donna Cremer; her daughter, Mary Louise Meyers; grandchildren: Gretchen Sargen (Sean), Elizabeth Smith (Tim) and Will Meyers and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Liam Sargen and Lillie, Nolan and Mason Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4th and Cherry Streets, Columbia with Rev. Stephen P. Kelley, Celebrant. Friends may call at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to Holy Trinity Church, Building Maintenance Fund, 409 Cherry Street, Columbia, PA 17512 or to the Columbia Borough Fire Department, PO BOX 426, Columbia, PA 17512.

Suzanne "Sue" A. McVey, 78, of Columbia, PA passed away at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy, PA on Saturday, February 9, 2019.

Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Emily Smaling McVey.

Sue graduated in 1958 from Lancaster Catholic High School and was employed for many years at the former Grinnell Corp. Sue enjoyed watching QVC, the Eagles, shopping and eating out with friends.

She was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Michael and her fur babies: Murph, Jake and Will.

Sue is survived by several cousins, friends and her fur baby, Ben.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Columbia at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen Kelley officiating.

Jacqueline C. Pickle, 86, of Columbia, went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2019. She was raised in Columbia by her late parents, Donald and Hazel Sampson Helwig. Jackie attended Columbia High School and graduated from Lancaster Business School. She retired in 1997 from her secretarial position at Donegal Mutual Insurance Company, Marietta.

She was an avid lifelong reader. She was known by all for her extensive knowledge of everything. In her retirement she volunteered at the Milanoff Schock Library, Mount Joy. She also enjoyed traveling with her late husband of 67 years, Donald R. Pickle, Sr. who preceded her in death last November. Together they also enjoyed their mountain cabin in Pennsylvania and their trailer in Florida. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be lovingly remembered and missed by all.

She leaves behind her children, Donald Jr., husband of Amy Pickle, Marietta; Jon, husband of Patricia Pickle, Conestoga; Susan, wife of Paul Enrico, Hellam; Julie, wife of Patrick Davis, Mount Joy; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her sister, Joan wife of Ernest Leo, New Cumberland.

A celebration of Jackie's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Reich's Evangelical Church, 338 Stackstown Road, Marietta, PA 17547 with the Rev. Dan Blank, officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Robert C. Weisser, 69, of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at home. He was the husband of Doris Jones Weisser with whom he was married 38 years. A lifelong Columbia resident, he was the son of the late Robert V. Weisser and Rosealma Ziegler Kitch.

Bob attended Valley Forge Military Academy as a teenager, and he graduated from Columbia High School in 1967. He also attended the University of Miami where he was a Golden Glove boxer. Bob worked for Norfolk-Southern Railroad for 34 years as a brakeman and conductor, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and served as its President for ten years.

He enjoyed spending time on the Susquehanna River, riding motorcycles and sportscars, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife are his children, Christian R., husband of Traci Weisser; Courtney R., wife of Daniel Ott; five grandchildren, Cole and Carson Weisser; Ayla, Brody, and Crew Ott; brother, Joseph, husband of Deb Weisser; and half-sister, Margie McElhaney. Bob shared his birthday with two of his four grandsons.

V. Fay Mowrer, 85, of West Hempfield Township, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at St. Anne's Retirement Community where she had been a guest since October. She was the wife of the late Paul G. "Red" Mowrer with whom she shared 66 years of marriage until his death on March 20, 2018. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen Doerer Ackerman.

Fay had worked for many years in the shipping and order department at the former Tidy Products, Columbia and was a longtime member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed watching all the wildlife that would pass through her yard.

A special thank you to the staff of St. Anne's Retirement Community for the excellent care provided to Fay during her brief stay there.

She is survived by her son, Jerry D., husband of Barb (Kreiser) Mowrer; Linda K., wife of Wayne R. Houck; grandchildren, Greg Mowrer, Brian Mowrer, Jill Corvino, Matthew Houck; great grandchildren, Adam, Elizabeth, Ava, Mason and sister, Janet Huggins. Her siblings, Sandy Helm and James Ackerman, preceded her in deathAt Fay's request, a graveside service will be held in the Concordia Lutheran Church Cemetery, 3825 Concordia Road, Columbia, PA 17512 on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Mary Anne Kingsborough, officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church where a light lunch will be served. Bradford L. Smith, 33, of Manheim, died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Rodger L. Smith and Tammy (Rineer) wife of Richard "Rick" Bransby. Brad was currently employed at Lancaster Asphalt Systems, Inc. He enjoyed skateboarding, playing the guitar and spending time with his family.

In addition to his mother and step father, he is survived by a son, Brenden; sisters, Shelby Smith; Amber Smith Lasky; step sister, Morgan wife of Andrew Moore and maternal grandmother, Barbara L. Miller.

A funeral service will be held from the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc. 519 Walnut St. Columbia PA 17512 on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.

Gloria I. "Nan" Douglas, 92, formerly of Columbia, passed away on January 25, 2019. She was the wife of the late Richard B. Douglas, who preceded her in death in 1996. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late David and Annie McCall Devine.

Nan was an excellent cook working in various area establishments, but was most known as the cook at the Red Rose Memorial Post 2435, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Columbia, with whom she was life member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Her recipe for crab cakes is still a closely held family secret. In addition, she was a member of St. James's Lutheran Church, Columbia.

Most important was her role as matriarch to her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathie, wife of Bob Miller; Brenda, wife of Bill Rauch; Lynn Risser; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and sister Nancy Nau. A number of siblings preceded her in death.

At Nan's request, a private graveside service will be held in Silver Spring Cemetery at a later date.

Thomas Ray Andrews, an angel born sleeping as a caterpillar awaits its beautiful life as a butterfly, received his heavenly wings on January 22, 2019. Though life remained short lived with Stacy Eckenrod and Scotty Andrews of Columbia PA, he remains in the hearts of mommy and daddy and is loved from day 1 of hearing your heartbeat to the blessing of seeing your handsome sweet face.

May you fly high precious baby boy until we meet again.
