The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Esther Mae Ackerman, 61, of Wrightsville, and formerly of Washington Boro, passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 15, 2024. She was born in Columbia to the late Robert and Martha Anderson and was a lifelong resident of this area.
Esther attended Columbia High School and worked with Chapman Ford for twenty-one years. She was previously a firefighter/water rescue with the former Washington Boro Fire Co. Esther enjoyed decorating her home and also ceramics and antiquing/flea markets. She adored her family and treasured spending time with them. Esther loved her church family and was a faithful member of Washington Boro United Methodist Church.
Esther leaves behind her husband of forty-four years, Kyle “Spike” Ackerman of Wrightsville; three children, Kyle II, husband of Stacey Ackerman of Lampeter, Daniel, husband of Leona Ackerman of Shiloh; Rebecca, wife of Michael Martin of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Dylan, Luke, Madison, Abigail, and Faith; two siblings, David, husband of Crissy Anderson of Columbia, Kevin Anderson of Syracuse, NY; several nieces and nephews and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Anderson.
A celebration of Esther’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Washington Boro United Methodist Church, 1964 Water St, Washington Boro, 17582. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Washington Boro U.M.C. Building Fund.
