It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Mary Ellen Musser of Columbia. Born November 18, 1930, she was the only child of Ethel Metzger Freiler who raised her as a single mother. Mary Ellen was loved by her mother's 13 siblings, their spouses and her cousins who were more like siblings. Her stepfather, Ray Freiler came into her life when she married and had children and cherished his role as grandfather.

She is survived by her husband, Howard David Musser, Sr. (Howie) whom she celebrated 75 years of marriage with this past July 2. Family and friends celebrated the occasion with a special mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a family luncheon. The special anniversary was also highlighted on WGAL News 8 which surprised and delighted Mary Ellen!

Mary Ellen was the loving mother of four sons, H. David, Jr., John (Terry), Rick (Beth) and Keith; one daughter, Linda (John) Russ. Grandma/Gram will be missed by her twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great-grand-children and great, great-granddaughter.

Mary Ellen graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School and later worked at Hamilton Watch and Columbia Garment Co. She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and a volunteer for the famous Holy Trinity Fasnacht Bake. For many years, Mary Ellen read to the blind through a local volunteer program; she also volunteered for both Meals on Wheels and Voter Registration.

Mary Ellen loved to travel and some of her favorite trips were to Alaska, Hawaii, Ireland and cruising the Caribbean. She also cherished trips with her family to the Toe Hill mountain cabin in Potter County, Stone Harbor and weekends at their river cabin on the Susquehanna.

Her friends and family, especially her grandchildren, were the "light" of her life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
