Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who lovingly raised five children.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St., Columbia, PA 17512.

The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Burial will follow and she will be laid to rest beside her late husband at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.

 

Sandra Jean Schmitt, 82, of Columbia passed away on May 24, 2024. She was born in Columbia to the late Walter and Millie Good and was a lifelong resident of this area. Sandy grew up in Washington Boro and was a graduate of Penn Manor High School with the Class of 1959.

She enjoyed visiting the mountains of Perry County at Camp Cucamonga where she liked fishing at Sherman's Creek. Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who lovingly raised five children. She adored her family and treasured spending time with them. Sandra was a faithful parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Sandy leaves behind her five children, George, Jr., husband of Pamela Schmitt of Lancaster, Bill Schmitt of Columbia, Marg, wife of Tony Shelly of Columbia, Eugene, husband of Angela Schmitt of Columbia, Mary Schmitt of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha, Erin, Jordan, Joshua, Jarret, and Anthony. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Schmitt, Sr. in 2019.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St., Columbia, PA 17512. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow and she will be laid to rest beside her late husband at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
