Mass of Christian Burial: St. Peter Catholic Church, 121 Second St., Columbia, PA 17512 on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11 a.m.

There will be no viewing, however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

 

George J. Contrestan passed away at home on June 1st at the age of 80 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New York, NY and grew up in Delaware.

He proudly served in the Army as an active combat soldier during the Vietnam War. He settled in Lancaster County and worked as a farrier for over 40 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Linda; his daughter, Heather Contrestan (Tom Klingensmith) to his first wife, LuAnn; Linda’s son Kurt Dock (Sandra); six grandchildren-Katie and Jack Kelly, Andrew Klingensmith, Kevin (Taylor) and Alex Dock, and Katie Eshelman; six great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Contrestan and his children Melanie (Jonathan) Scharrer and Joe Contrestan; aunt, Delores Petroski; cousins, Richard Petroski and Eileen Tita; seven brothers/sisters-in-law and their families; and his close friends at VFW Post 2435 in Columbia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Contrestan and his mother, Helen (Fierro) Contrestan, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 121 Second St., Columbia, PA 17512 on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Augustine Joseph, Celebrant. There will be no viewing, however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church or the VFW Post 2435, 401 Manor St., Columbia, PA 17512.
